General descriptionCharacterization, classification and properties of plastics. The properties and usage of thermoplastics, thermosetting polymers, elastomers. Plast-composite materials, their manufacturing technology and usage. Forming, machining, casting, pressing, wrapping and testing methods of plastics. Compounding methods and welding of plastics. Wear resistance and corrosion of plastics. Mainly used and specific plastics.
General aimThe aim of the course is to give the student knowledge about polymers, their structure, properties and the main usage. The assets and processing methods of plastics used in engineering.
AimThe student who has mastered this course can orientate in the domain of modern polymers and knows their properties and usage and also the different technologies of manufacturing products.
