TTK University of Applied Sciences
Subject 'Metal Science'Name in Estonian: Metalliõpetus
General descriptionThe use of metals in modern technology, mineral reserves, production, and alternative engineering materials. Determination of mechanical properties, international standards, quality characteristics. Basic principles of crystallography, crystal imperfections, fundamentals of the theory of alloys. Phase diagrams and their application. Ferrous alloys - steel and iron, their classification, properties, standard grades according to Russian GOST and European DIN-EN systems. Heat treatment of steel: kinds, properties, phase transformations and technology. Most frequently used non-ferrous metals and alloys. Al- and Cu-base alloys: duralumin, silumin, bronze, brass. Fusible metals Pb, Sn, Sb and their alloys - babbitts and solders.
