General descriptionThe main categories of ethics. The nature of ethical dilemma. Normative ethics and entrepreneurship. Engineer's ethics as professional ethics : the main basic concepts. Practical options of solving ethical conflicts. Ethical problems of engineers both in industry and management. Engineer's liability towards society and nature. Types of social obligation and responsibility. Development of a company's social obligation. Monitoring and control of engineer's activities. Codes of engineer's ethics. Evolution from students into engineers. Ethical culture of the European engineer.
General aimThe aim of the course is to create the conditions necessary to gain knowledge and practical experience in the ethical issues of engineer's work and basics of engineer's ethics. The students learn to prevent and solve ethical conflicts. The course stresses the importance of social obligation and the necessity to orient in socially relevant issues.
AimAfter completing the course a student will:
- have an in-depth knowledge of ethical behaviour; - know how to create a working-atmosphere focused on teamwork; - be able to critically analyze own behaviour and ethical development; - understand the development of a company's social obligation and directions; - be able to orient in and discuss society's ethical problems.
