General descriptionReinforced concrete - essence, production of reinforced concrete parts, their main types, damages and repair. Mortars - types (mortars, plaster mortars, decorative plasters), composition, properties, dry mixes. Unburnt artificial stone products - production, properties and usage of calcium silicate brick. Autoclaved porous concrete, gypsum products, concrete stones. Bitumen materials - types and properties of bitumens; roof covering materials, hydraulic insulation materials. Plastic materials - composition, processing, usage. Plastic panels and coverings, profile products, mastics, bubble plastics. Thermal insulation materials - organic, mineral (production, properties, usage). Finishing materials - paints, varnishes, wallpapers. Glass products - different types of glasses and their production.
General aimThe objective of the course is to give the students a notion about general and specific properties of building materials. The course also includes the testing methods of materials.
AimThe student:
- knows the main properties of materials, their production principles, regulations of transportation and storage; - can orientate in the choice of materials according to their technical and economic indicators. Form descriptionLectures 28 hours, laboratory works 12 hours, independent work 52 hours.
