General description

Electrolytic dissociation, hydrolyse, ways of expressing the concentrations of solutions. Ion product of water. pH solubility product of the solutions of acids and bases. Qualitative and quantitative analysis. Determination of cations and anions, group reactives. Essence of photometry and chromatography. More important cycles of elements and substances: oxygen, sulphur, phosphor, nitrogen, water, minerals. Air, water and soils pollution. Ozone layer and its importance.

General aim

The objective of the course is to provide theoretical knowledge about the research fields of analytical chemistry; solubility, solubility product, dissociation, pH, their connection with the determination of substances in solutions and other environments, the group reactions of cations and anions, the essence of qualitative and quantitative analysis, introduction of the methods of instrumental analysis.
In the part of the course on environmental chemistry more important circulations of matters that take place in the environment and the processes that contaminate the environment are explained.Hazardous substances reduction methods are introduced and ethical viewpoints of environmental protection are formed.

Aim

Student:
- knows the more important theoretical viewpoints of analytical chemistry;
- can explain simpler reactions for the determination of elements;
- can perform calculations, connected with concentrations;
- can describe cycles of matter and assess the hazardousness of substances that occur into the environment.

Form description
