Contaminated soils and residual waste. Historical overview about Estonia and other countries. Relevant legal acts. Present problems in Estonia - ports, industrial areas, etc. The impact of contaminated soils and residual waste on environmental situation and human health. Treatment technologies and previous practice.

The objective of the course is to provide an overview of soil contamination, residual waste, risks to the environment and human health, technologies, used to neutralize and decontaminate objects.

Student:
- knows the factors that cause soil contamination;
- can assess their hazard to the environment and human;
- knows liquidation methods.
