Subject 'Basics of Landfills Planning'Name in Estonian: Jäätmehoidlate projekteerimise alused
General descriptionDuring the course students are introduced to the different types of waste that form in the use of buildings and the need which follows to sort the collection of waste and also methods of waste removal. Students are introduced to the principles of building design and requirements for construction projects. As practical work students figure out the architectural design of different types of buildings, located at landfill sites in the stage of rough drawings – sorting stations, garage-repair shops, non-work buildings (administrative buildings), weighing rooms, etc. Students are introduced to the drafting of plot site plans – i.e., the principle of field planning and the graphics used– drawing conventions. As a practical task, a design solution must be produced for a landfill site.
General aimThe objective of the course is to give an overview of waste treatment facility technological schemes and the principles of plot planning and building design.
