Subject 'History of Urban Design II'Name in Estonian: Linnaehituse ajalugu II
General descriptionA brief overview of towns in their historical development. A short overview of the medieval urban design in Russia, Islamic countries and in the Far East, at the same time paying attention to the tendencies applied in the European urban design. The basic part of the course includes an overview from the Renaissance urban design to the present day complicated urbanization processes in modern European cities. The urban design of Estonia is handled as an organic part of the history of general urban design. The rise of the population in Estonian towns and the problems resulted in it.
General aimTo give an overview of the medieval urban design in Russia, Islamic countries and in the Far East, at the same time paying attention to the tendencies applied in the European urban design. An overview from the Renaissance urban design to the present day complicated urbanization processes in modern European cities.
AimStudents having completed the course know the principles of history of urban design and the factors affecting it, the social processes which have most influenced the global urbanization.
