General description

An overview of of the history of interior and furniture in Old Eastern countries, Ancient Greece and Rome. Medieval interior.The influence of Roman and Gothic style on the art of furniture. Revelation of Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo (Chippendale) and Classicism in interior and art of furniture. Revolutionary change in environmentthrough the 19th century. The Biedermeier style, historicism and eclecticism of the 19th century. Application of synthesis of arts in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Art Nouveau. The new concept of interior in Functionalism. Art Deco. Modern interior concepts.

General aim

To give a whole vision of the development of interior and furniture through the history.

Aim

Students having completed the course know the principles of history of interior and furniture, and the factors influenced their development - the social processes, different styles and trends.
