General descriptionOverview of factors related to designing of a detached house: the goals of urban design, natural and climatic influences; energy consumption of the building through the life cycle. Room program, zoning of rooms; flexibility and convertibility during the life cycle. ArchitectŽs opportunities in creating a sustainable and energy saving one-family house. Practical task: a design of a detached house taking a particular site and designing requirements into consideration.
General aimTo introduce students with the problems of designing a detached house. To develop application skills through a practical design task.
AimStudents after completing the course are able to draw up a room program of a dwelling house, to analyse the features of a site, to know and to take into consideration the basic requirements of designing, and is able to create and present a design of a detached house.
Form descriptionIntroductory lectures, a training visit, a seminar. Practical design task. The work is presented in graphic form with an explanatory letter. The work is presented in interim inspection and while defending the term project.
