Aim

General aim of Curriculum of applied higher education is preparation of a student for working in a position of a processing industry specialist, process engineer or midlevel manager.
The task of the curriculum’s general educational and base
modules is to develop the student’s general educational base and social maturity.
In the main part the curriculum of organization of production is multidisciplinary, students who complete the curriculum obtain general knowledge of different fields of processing industry, production engineering and connections between them. General multidisciplinary knowledge and capacities are obtained within the framework of theoretical subjects and practical projects.
Narrower knowledge about processing technologies of materials is obtained for one processing industry and these capacities are obtained during different practices and accomplishing internships in different enterprises (in work environment).

Learning outcomes

The student who has completed the curriculum in full amount has the following competences:
- possesses a systematic overview of key concepts of production, production techniques and knows the contemporary principles of production process improvement and is able to utilise them in daily work;
- knows the particularities of different types of industrial technologies and the principles of standardisation of different processes, material and production capacity planning and is able to use them;
- knows how to use the bases of engineering calculations in product development, in the design and utilisation of technical systems;
- shows initiative in product development and in the initiation of production processes’ improvement projects, is capable of participating in project team work and in the application of project results;
- knows the principles of personnel management of a production enterprise, is able to motivate and direct employees to achieve goals set in a production unit;
- knows the principles of quality management and is able to utilise them in his work;
- knows how to collect and analyse necessary work information and possesses the required skills for working with different business software and other information systems;
- is able to explain himself in his mother tongue and at least in one foreign language orally and in writing discussing the problems relating to production processes and to participate in debates;
- understands the legal regulations of environmental and occupational safety issues related to processing industry;
- is ready to actively participate in civil society and is tolerant to diversity of opinions;
- is capable of assessing the role and results of his professional actions, taking into account social and ethical aspects, and possible consequences in a wider context;
- understands the necessity of lifelong learning and is capable of developing himself professionally through independent self-improvement.
