AimThe objective of the applied higher education curricula in construction geodesy is to prepare engineers (EstQF level 6, Land Surveyor), who are accepted by the labour market and who fulfil tasks that need analytical thinking and decisiveness in changing circumstances, have field-specific knowledge and skills, organize the division of resources and the work of employees and takes responsibility for it.
The task of the modules of general education and basic subjects of the curriculum is to develop the general educational basis and social maturity of the students. The acquisition of professional knowledge and skills takes place via theoretical subjects and practical classes, given in the curriculum, and through carrying out practical trainings in enterprises (working environment). The engineer, who has passed the curriculum of construction geodesy, can work in all fields of higher geodesy and applied geodesy, both in state and private companies, as team manager, performer of geodetic works, cartographer, and land manager. After passing the curriculum studies one can continue studies in the master programme. Completion of the curriculum together with work experience awards the 6th level of surveyor’s specialty. - has a broad-based knowledge of the subject of geodesy and applies the acquired knowledge and skills in professional life; - is able to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in professional activity; - is able to evaluate the role of professional activity and its consequences to the society from an ethical aspect; - is prepared to actively and responsively participate in civil society, is able to work in a multidisciplinary project team; - follows in his activity the professional ethics and the Code of Conduct of an engineer; - possesses the communication and management skills necessary for professional work, uses correct professional terminology; - masters the information and communication technologies necessary for work; - is familiar with and follows the legal acts, standards and norms regulating geodetic work; - is capable of continuous self-improvement in the field of specialty and profession - designs and performs all activities related to applied geodesy and higher geodesy; - masters graphic software for geodetic drafting; - is familiar with geodetic instruments and their relevant applications; - performs data processing of survey results; - follows and ensures the compliance with occupational safety requirements; - possesses the analytical skills characteristic of an engineer.
