| General description |
Economic principles and history of economic thought. Development economics five stage after Second World War and problems. Monetary and financial economics. Economic and Monetary Union of the European Union, euro. Balance of payments. Demographic economics, UN Human Development Index, Gini coefficient. Science and tehnology progress. Globalisation – GDP real growth rates, economies by region, international trade of goods and services, tourism, investment. Human resources, labour, unemployment, employment, wage labour. Financial crisis of 2007–2010, economic crisis and stimulus, the business cycle.
Review of world energy. Review by energy type: oil, natural gas, coal, nuclear energy, hydroelectricity, renewable energy, biofuel, windkraft, wave power, solarenergy, geothermal power, primary energy, greenhouse gas emissions, electricity generation. Energy reserves, production, consumption, prices, trade movements, transport and long-term energy market projections. |

| The aim of the course is: economic principles and history of economic thought; development economics five stage and problems; monetary and financial economics; EMU of EU, euro; balance of payments; demographic economics, UN HDI, Gini coefficient; science and tehnology progress; globalisation – GDP, economies by region, international trade of goods and services, tourism, investment; human resources, labour; financial and economic crisis and stimulus; review of world energy and long-term energy market projections; review of world energy by energy type: oil, natural gas, coal, nuclear energy, hydroelectricity, renewable energy, biofuel, windkraft, wave power, solarenergy, geothermal power, primary energy, greenhouse gas emissions, electricity generation; energy reserves, production, consumption, prices, trade movements, transport and long-term energy market projections. |

The student
- knows how the international economy works in principle
- knows the main current problems of globalization and the international economy
- has an overview:
- of the the worldŽs economical order and trends in the development stages,
- of the protectionism in the WTO;
- of the rich and poor countries conflicts;
- of the debt problems in rich countries.
- knowsthe world's most important organizations such as UN, EU, Nordic Council of Europe, CIS and others, and economic integration, such as the IMF, the World Bank, WTO, European Community, OECD, NAFTA, APEC, OPEC, ASEAN, etc..
- has an overview of the world's energy problems, petroleum business; politics and economic relationships, the balance of payments principles |
