| General description |
| Introduction to technical mechanics. Supports. Load types. Operations with forces. Equations of equilibrium. Support reactions of bars and systems of bars. Internal forces of bars. The basis of the strength of materials. Characteristics of cross-sections. Basics of stress theory. Normal stresses. Shear stresses. Deformations and displacements. Stability. |
|
| General aim |
| The general aim of the course is to give base knowledge of one part of technical mechanics – statics, which deals with forces and equilibrium and on the design of structures that have to ensure, that the structure dos not collapse or deform excessively. |
|
| Aim |
After completion of the course, the student:
1. knows and is bale to use the vocabulary and units that are used in mechanics and knows what are the criteria for elements according to the strength of materials;
2. is able to calculate support reactions for structures in plane and construct diagrams of internal forces for simple statically determined bars;
3. knows how the characteristics of cross-sections are calculated and is able to calculate them for simple cross-sections;
4. knows how to calculate stresses and how they divide in the cross-section;
5. knows how to calculate displacements for simple bars resulting from normal- and bendingdeformations. |
