Overview of the purpose of traffic research and most commonly used software.
Knowledge of transportation model structure and its application and traffic simulation.
Overview of the methology of intersection throughput calculation.
Overview of the basics of traffic signal program development.
Overview of the requirements of traffic management project development and formalization. |

| General aim |
| The objective of the course is to provide the student with an overview of the purpose in traffic research and the commonly used software. |

| Aim |
The student has knowledge of the presumptions and basics of traffic simulation, the correspondant matrix and the principles of designing transportation model networks.
The student can extract data from traffic signal programs.
The student can calculate the throughput of an intersection.
The student can extract data from traffic management projects and has the skills to develop them. |

| The study will be performed in the form of lectures and practices. The calculations and solutions made in the practices will be rechecked with real intersections. |

| Evaluation methods |
In order to be admitted to the final assessment, all the practical assignments must be presented.
The final grade is calculated from total points gained from practical assignments 80% and final assessment 20%. |
