Curriculum: Environmental Technology and Management 2013/2014



Module Description
Humanities 13 ECTS credits.

Objective:
to introduce opinions and attitudes of science and politics in the field of the speciality and enable to acquire a special foreign language.

Learning outcomes:
student
- knows the opinions and attitudes of science and politics in the field of the speciality that are accepted by the society and can apply them in developing the field further and keeping continuity;
- has a speciality-related vocabulary and expressive skills in foreign languages being learned;
- can use the oral and written language in solving speciality-related problems and situations;
- can acquire additional special knowledge with the help of learned foreign languages.
Economics Subjects. Law and Regulations 23 ECTS credits.

Objective:
to enable to get to know the basics and regulations about the functioning of economy.

Learning outcomes:
student
- has knowledge about theoretical basics of organisation management;
- knows the main notions of social psychology and the basics of their application in a working
environment;
- can introduce the requirements in the field of quality and environment management in an
enterprise;
- knows the valid legislation about regulating economy and environment;
- can work with normative documents and can differentiate important information from the
text and apply it.
Mathematics, Sciences and Engineering Subjects 25 ECTS credits.

Objective:
to create a basis and provide basic knowledge about engineering subjects.

Learning outcomes:
student
- commands to the necessary extent theoretical knowledge of sciences;
- can find engineering outputs;
- can apply engineering knowledge in seeing and solving speciality-related problems.
Chemistry and Physics 25 ECTS credits.

Objective:
to introduce the structure of natural environment and processes which take place in it.

Learning outcomes:
student
- orientates in the theoretical basics of natural sciences;
- can find fields of application in solving speciality-related situations and preventing
environmental hazards;
- can act in crisis situations, being aware of possible hazards according to laws of nature and
use competent solutions.
Environmental Protection 24 ECTS credits.

Objective:
to intoduce the basics of ecology, principle notions of environmental protection and their application.

Learning outcomes: student

- knows the basics of ecology, principle notions and laes of environmental protection;
- can organise competent help if environmental disturbances occur;
- is aware of necessity to develop continuously the knowledge in the field of environmental protection related legislative draftingo
Technology and Waste Management 56 ECTS credits.

Objective:
to introduce waste treatment and water industry related technologies.

Learning outcomes:
student
- knows the most used waste treatment and water industry related technologies and their application possibilities;
- can assess how modern and cost-effective various technologies are;
- knows the basics of design of water and sewage facilities;
- commands the requirements that regulate waste management;
- knows various types of waste and treatment possibilities of different types of waste.
Practical Training 40 ECTS credits.

Objective:
to enable to implement and control the acquired knowledge and skills in the work environment.

Learning outcomes:
student
- can implement the acquired knowledge and competencies in work and operate in the acquired speciality as a specialist or entrepreneur.
Working Life 9 ECTS credits.

Objective:
to enable the acquisition of the knowledge and skills that help to understand the operation of the organisation and support coping in it.

Learning outcomes:
student
- can work in a collective - understands working life related processes;
- commands communication skills and information and communication technologies that are necessary for work.
Optional Subjects 38 ECTS credits.

Objective:
to enable the acquisition of additional knowledge and skills, necessary for professional work.

Learning outcomes:
student
- has acquired additional knowledge and skills that are essential for the professional work as a techno-ecologist.
Graduation Thesis 15 ECTS credits.

Objective:
to enable to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in solving a theoretical-practical professional problem.

Learning outcomes:
student
- has a systematic overview about the speciality;
- knows the problems of techno-ecology and their solution possibilities;
- can implement the acquired knowledge and skills in professional work.
