Curriculum: Applied Architecture 2018/2019



Module Description
Humanities 9 ECTS credits

Objectives:
to introduce the most spread scientific and culture theory view points and attitudes, related to the fields of speciality, help to understand the field of architecture in the context of society and culture, and to provide acquiring a professional foreign language.

Learning outcomes:
student
- considering ethical aspects, is able to assess the role and consequences of the professional activities on the society;
- has the communication and teamwork skills required for work as well as information and communication technology;
- is able to understand professional information in foreign language;
- is able to explain speciality-related issues in a foreign language, both orally and in writing;
- is able to participate in speciality-related and professional disputes.
Engineering 45 ECTS credits

Objectives:
to provide students sufficient knowledge of sciences related to architecture, construction sciences, techniques and technologies.

Learning outcomes:
the student
- understands designing of structures, construction and engineering issues related to the design project of a building;
- has knowledge of physics and technological functions, building structures, local building materials;
- knows how to use scientific engineering knowledge for compiling architectural design projects, is capable of cooperation with engineers.
History and Theory 30 ECTS credits

Objectives:
to create basics in order to orientate in architectural discipline.

Learning outcomes:
student
- knows the history and theory of architecture as well as of the related arts, technologies and humanities;
- understands the development of art culture and the processes taking place in modern architecture and urban development;
- understands the social role and professional ethics of architect.
Media and Methods 33 ECTS credits

Objectives:
the course is to provide the students special knowledge and skills for architectural design and planning.

Learning outcomes:
student
- is able to create architectural proposal, which satisfies artistically and aesthetically;
- has a command of computer applications required in professional work for designing and representing.
Architectural Designs 54 ECTS credits

Objectives:
to provide the students special knowledge and skills for architectural design and planning.

Learning outcomes:
student
- knows how to create architectural objects according to aesthetic and technical requirements;
- has the necessary knowledge of urban design and planning and essential skills for planning process;
- understands the social role of the profession and ethics of architect;
- has a command of computer applications required in professional work;
- is able to find a solution, depending on the location, to an architectural task;
- is able to analyse given tasks and create an aesthetic and functional spatial entity.
Practical Training 36 ECTS credits

Objective:
to provide the working environment where to apply and check the acquired knowledge and skills.

Learning outcomes:
student
- knows working culture, traditions of working life and is able to behave in collective;
- can assess the activity of working collective; plan, organise and develop this activity in a changing working situation;
- understands the prospective profession, the place of a designer and planner in the society, can make professional decisions and solve the problems arisen in work;
- understands the relationship between people and buildings, and the necessity to comply buildings and the space between them according to human needs and dimensions.
Electives 18 ECTS credits

Objectives:
to support and develop the acquired knowledge and skills regarding social role and professional ethics.

Learning outcomes:
student
- owns additional knowledge and skills for professional work;
- is able to communicate and discuss about architectural issues in verbal as well as written manner.
Graduation Thesis 15 ECTS credits

Objective:
to provide applying the acquired knowledge and skills in solving theoretical and practical professional problem.

Learning outcomes:
student
- has a systematic overview of the speciality and has obtained the necessary theoretical and practical skills for the professional work of architect;
- can evaluate systematically and in every respect his/her professional skills, competence and specify his/her needs for improvement;
- can give directions and guidance to his/her workmates.
