General aim

General objective of a course:
Provide basic understanding regarding basic principles in applied research and methods of research and explain the compilation and formatting requirements.

Aim

Students are familiar with:
1. the requirements set for research;
2. a variety of research methods and their choice principles.

Students are able to:
1. formulate research objectives, plan and carry out research;
2. develop a research agenda;
3. apply different research methods on the basis of the tasks set and the organizational and environmental constraints;
4. use the acquired knowledge in their thesis work in the framework of carrying out the survey;
5. formalize the research results.

Form description

Course duration 8 weeks (stationary study); 3 academic sessions (distance learning). Web-based e-learning by 40%, during the semester include contact classes by 60% according to the teaching plan. Lecturing in the classroom; web-based e-learning, seminars (discussions, group work and individual tasks, presentation), written home assignment.

Evaluation methods

Evaluation method - exam. The final grade shares the results of the following:
1. Individual research tasks in material formalization; the maximum proportion of 10% of the final grade; a prerequisite criterion for the final presentation of the study draft at the end of teh course;
2. Reviewing a thesis in groups; written review and oral presentation; the maximum proportion of 30% of the final grade; a prerequisite criterion for the final presentation of the study draft at the end of the course;
3. Individual research design - preparation and presentation of a complete study draft wit all its compulsory elements; the maximum proportion of 60% of the final grade.
