General description
The course is for railway distance students with Russian mother tongue to support their Estonian specialty language and grammar skills,
General aim
The aim of the course is to develop railway students' Estonian language skills on four levels - listening, speaking, reading and writing - and communication based on specialty-related texts and videos.
Aim
The student:
1. ... understands specialty texts using vocabulary acquired during the course;
2. ... is able to use studied grammatical forms correctly in specialty-related context;
3. .... is able to use acquired knowledge in everyday work in Estonian communication;
4. ... .has knowledege of the ways and opportunities of further Estonian language self-development.
Form description
1 Introduction - course aims, content, requierements, etc. A glimpse of Estonian railway history. Texts, excercises. Declinations, question words.
2 Railway rolling stock: locomotives and wagons. Types of wagons. Video (on locomotives, author M. Kuusk, in Russian). Texts, vocabulary excercises. Verb forms.
3 Railway infrastructure: types of railways and stations. Texts, vocabulary excercises. Overview of tenses.
4 Locomotive driver's profession. Work environment and conditions. Minipresentation: introduction of one's job. Development of general vocabulary. Comparatives.

Evaluation methods
The course ends with a graded credit. The final mark is formed on the basis of the results of individual homework; audotory work, and vocabulary test marks as follows:

Homework - 30%
Participation and activities, incl, tests in contact lessons - 30%
Independent preparation for contact lessons - 30%
Mini-presentation - 10%

The mark for vocabulary tests is formed as follows:

Excellent (5): 100 – 90% correct answers
Very good (4): 89 – 80%
Good (3): 79 – 70%
Satisfactory (2): 69 – 60%
Poor (1): 59-51%
