| General description |
Engineering materials: metals, polymers, ceramics and composites.
Structure and properties of materials. |
|
| General aim |
| The aim of the course is to provide knowledge about main engineering materials in modern technology: metallic materials, non-metallic materials. Ferrous metals and alloys: steels and cast irons. Non-ferrous metals and alloys: aluminum, copper, titanium, nickel and magnesium and their alloys. Non-metallic materials: plastics, engineering ceramics and composite materials. |
|
| Aim |
The student who has mastered this course:
- classifies engineering materials and gives examples of every group.
- names different properties of materials and defines them.
- describes the structure of materials and knows the connection between the structure and properties of materials.
- names non-metallic engineering materials, knows their properties and application. |
