| Theoretical part: Protection Apparatus for modern residential installations. Definition, classification, types and usage of Protection Apparatus. Requirements and standards for Low-Voltage Apparatus. Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCB-s), Residual Current Circuit Breakers (RCCB-s), fuses. Physical processes in Protection Apparatus. Overload and short circuit protection. Selectivity for short circuit and overload situations. Leakage current selectivity. The impact of the electric current for human body, electrical safety. Practical part: design and construction of of Protection Apparatus Test Stand for Electrical Engineering laboratory use. |

| General aim |
| Practical task: to design and build Low-Voltage Protective Equipment Test Stand for Electrical Engineering laboratory, which includes overload, short circuit and residual current protection apparatus. The Test Stand allows to study the overload, leakage current, short - circuit discrimination and to draw up the tripping characteristics. |

| The course provides knowledge about the construction and operation principles of Low – Voltage Protection Apparatus. The graduate acquires knowledge how to choose and use them according to the purpose and technical parameters. |
