General description
During studies the knowledge about clothing material testing methods, devices and standards is provided. The abilities to classify, to identify, to investigate and to characterize clothing materials properties as well as to determine the influence of materials properties in the technological and wear processes of clothing are trained.

General aim
To provide knowledge about clothing materials testing methods and standards; to acquire abilities to perform practical testing, to qualify and to evaluate fabric properties, to master testing methods, to provide knowledge about clothing materials characteristics.

Aim
On completion of the course the students should be able to know clothing materials testing methods, devices and standards; to obtain abilities to identify clothing materials according to their fiber composition, structure and manufacturing method; to evaluate the influence of structure and properties of investigated fabrics on their behaviour during manufacture and wear; to assess textile materials faults and clothing defects,to present recommendations for clothing manufacture as well as to obtain the communication skills.

Form description
The knowledge concerning testing methods of clothing materials is provided during the lectures and individual work using visual demonstration aids and investigating real clothing materials. The abilities to recognize and to characterize clothing materials are trained during laboratory work. The level of obtained abilities is evaluated in the process of making reports for laboratory works.
