General description
Definition of electronics. Passive and active components of electronics. Most common semiconductor devices, such as diodes, transistors, bidirectional thyristors (TRIAC) and thyristors. Construction and working principles of optoelectronic devices, operational amplifiers (OP AMP), pulsers and different rectifiers. Construction, working principles and main characteristics of voltage and current source inverters and frequency converters. Problems of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
General aim
The goal of this course is to introduce a student to the basics of electronic engineering. Students can get their first knowledge of passive and active components. Emphasis is on the semiconductor components, such as diodes, transistors and thyristors. Most common circuits, such as operation amplifiers, pulsers etc., are also covered.
The course covers the features and functions of rectifiers, inverters and frequency converters.
Aim
1. Distinguishes between passive and active components of electronics.
2. Describes most common semiconductor devices.
3. Selecs components and composes some simple circuits.
4. Uses just right instruments for test electronic circuits.
5. Describes working principles of different kind of rectifiers, AC converters and frequency converters.
Form description
Lectures, individual work, tests, laboratory (or practical) works.
