| General description |
| Old-Egyptian garb. The era of classical antiquity: the Greek and Roman garb. Byzantine garb. Middle Ages: Romanesque and Gothic style - Burgundy court garb. Renaissance style - the impact of the Italian clothing in Europe. Baroque style - the French fashion spread. Rococo style. Classicism style - Directorate - Biedermeier. The second half of 19th century: the Romantic period, the Fëte Imperiale, and the "Belle Epoque" period. Art Nouveau style -the end of 19th century and early 20th century. 20th century fashion: 1910s, 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. The relationship between fashion and the history of life. World-known designers. Fashion terminology. The names of fashion clothing of different history periods. |

| The course is intended to grant the knowledge about the history of clothing from its emergence until the present, the spread of fashion, style, changes in fashion terminology. |

| On completion of the course a student is familiar with clothing styles from different periods and knows how to use the acquired knowledge to create clothing collections. |
