General description
The subject of geodesy. The ground plan of Estonia. The shape and size of the Earth. Basic geodetic instruments. The ways of determination of point position. Scale. Coordination systems. Orientation of lines. Levelling instrument. One-station levelling. Differential levelling. Checking and adjustment of levels. Computations of line of levels. Measurement of lines. Theodolites, their classification and structure. Horisontal and vertical angles observation. Trigonometric level. Computation of transit line. Tacheometer measurements. Making up a drawing of site. Contour designing.
Checking and adjustment of geodetic instruments. Planimetric control. Tacheometer measurements of a site. Office computations of positions and altitudes; making up a drawing of site. Surface levelling and contour designing.
General aim
The objective of the course is to provide students basic knowledge in the field of geodesy; main geodetic works; techniques of using geodetic instruments, their cheching and adjustment, making up drawings of site.
The objective of practical training is to provide skills of building geodetic networks and tacheometer measurements, and making up a drawing of site.
Aim
Students after completing the course are able to accomplish the computations of a detail net and carry out planimetric surveying; are able to make up drawings of site; have obtained the techniques of using different surveying instruments like levelling instrument, theodolites, tapes, and optical squuares. Students know the classification and construction of these instruments, their cheching and adjustment.
Having passed the practical training students are able independently carry out geodetic works; they can use geodetic instruments (theodolites, levelling instruments). They can use a drawing of site.
Form description
Lectures, seminars, practical sessions, group work, independent work.
