General description
This subject of study is intended for users of industrial machinery, primarily for service engineers. Effective performance of a machine can be obtained only on condition of reliable functioning of its units and assemblies. This will greatly depend on the mode and conditions of lubrication, kinds and properties of the lubricants. Whereas the industrial lubricants are costly and some of them in short supply, they should be applied correctly and economically. This subject includes a comparison of lubricants and service liquids supplied in conformity with various standards (ISO, ASTM, DIN, EN, GOST, etc.), also considering the conditions restricting their interchangeability.
In laboratory works the students shall determine the main properties of industrial lubricants and service liquids. Basic knowledge on safety requirements and environmental protection measures will be delivered.
General aim
The aim of the course is to give knowledge about the composition, the variety of, the properties and the right and economical usage of modern lubricants and service liquids used in transportation and industrial machinery. This subject includes a comparison of lubricants and service liquids supplied in conformity with various standards (ISO, ASTM, DIN, EN, GOST, etc.), also considering the conditions restricting their interchangeability.
Aim
The student who has mastered this course is able to economically and correctly use lubricants and service liquids that meet the requirements of tribology.

Evaluation methods
In the assessment is used formative and summative evaluation. The assessment is a prerequisite for participation in lectures, seminars and laboratory work and the development of student during the process, in terms of the interim work (tests, laboratory work and seminar presentations) and in the assessment of exam performed at the end of the learning process. Evaluation methods are the tests, course papers, seminars presentations, debates, analyses and exam.
