General description
Determination of proper cutting conditions, calculation of cutting forces and power necessary for cutting. Various cutting-based machining methods, such as turning, drilling, boring, planing, milling, grinding, broaching and gear cutting will be considered. Requirements to tools for use on CNC machines. The problem to be solved in study report lays in designing of a particular cutting tool supported with the necessary calculations and graphical representation.
General aim
Basic knowledge is given on cutting tool materials, geometry of cutting tool, chip formation and the associated thermal effects and wear. Various cutting-based machining methods, particular types of cutting tools used in various processes of metal cutting and describing the technological process.
Aim
Upon completion of the course the student is able to distinguish different metal cutting methods.
Is able to analyze and implement various metal cutting data. Is able to ensure the required accuracy and surface quality. Knows and is able to put together technological documentation.
