General description
Concept of construction physics: thermal physics, acoustics and lighting. Inner climate of rooms. Heat transmission in steady-state conditions. Temperature field. Thermal bridges. Calculating thermal stability of barriers. Non-stationary heat transmission. Rational position of layers in multiple-layer barriers. Assessment of moisture regime in barriers. Water and steam insulation. Moisture damage. Thermal economy. Thermal physics issues in renovation of buildings. Basics of construction acoustics. impact of noise on people. Transmission of sound. Soundproofing of barriers. Noise control. Basic notions and criteria of architectural acoustics. Acoustic structures and designing of rooms. Basics of natural lighting. Assessment and design of natural lighting of rooms.
General aim
The aim of the course is to learn about the essential physical processes influencing the inner climate of buildings, and introduce the fields of construction physics: thermal physics, acoustics and lighting.
Aim
After completing the course the student is familiar with the physical aspect of forming the inner climate of buildings and can make calculations of thermal and moisture flows of barriers.
