| Overview of the general requirements on buildings and their structures; building elements: foundations, walls, frames, inserted ceilings, stairs. |

| The objective of the course is to provide knowledge about construction of buildings and the practicable structures; making up independently home tasks, which is the preparation for the subsequent design courses "Dwelling houses" and "Public and industrial buildings". |

| Students after completing the course know: structural schemes of different buildings; structures for building engineering services and the units occuring most; fixed knowledge about building materials and their fields of application in construction of buildings. |

| Lectures and practical classes where the bases of each theme are studied thoroughly, then according to the individual tasks, practical home tasks are drawn up: structural scheme, technical drawings of foundation fragment, wall structures and choice of lintels for bridging openings, plan of an inserted ceiling made of prefabricated panels. |
