| Loads having an impact on masonry structures. Materials usable in masonry structures. Performance of masonry when carrying a load. Masonry deformation qualities. Standard and calculated strength of masonry. Calculating walls for vertical and horizontal loading. Buildings with elastic and rigid constructive scheme. |

| The objective of the course is to give an overview of the materials, used in masonry structures, their interrelated cooperation and design basics of masonry structures. |

| The course provides within the framework of applied higher educational curriculum the students a theoretical preparation in the field of masonry structures. They can work as production managers at general constructional works at the level of a company manager, project leader or supervisor, as well as construction structures designers. |

Classroom work: lectures and practical classes.
Independent work: in accordance with the basic data, provided by the lecturer, the student checks the bearing capacity of and exterior load-bearing wall of a four-storey building.
Mastering the material that was dealt with at lectures and practical classes. |
