Curriculum: Railway Engineering 2013/2014



Module Description
Humanities 15 ETCS credits, from those: 12 ETCS credits compulsory subjects, 3 ETCS credits optional courses

Objective:
to introduce opinions and attitudes of science and politics in the field of the specialty and enable to acquire a special foreign language.

- is able to evaluate the ethical aspects, results and possible consequences for society of the professional activity;
- possess the necessary communication and team-working skills and communication tools;
- is able to understand the specialty related information in foreign language;
- is able both in orally and in written form to explain the specialty related problems;
- is able to participate in the specialized and professional discussions.
Mathematics, Sciences and Graphics 40 ETCS credits, from those: 37 ETCS credits compulsory subjects, 3 ETCS credits optional courses.

Objective:
to create a foundation and give basic knowledge of engineering and technology.

Learning outcomes:
student
- possesses basic knowledge in mathematics, sciences and graphics to further study engineering disciplines;
- is able to use logical and analytical thinking and systematic approach to solving spatial geometric images / drawings;
- is able to analyze and model different spatial formats;
- is able to use statistical analysis methods;
- is able to assess the risk factors assiciated with the use of the car and reduce the various risks;
- is able to assess the validity of the results obtained in solving practical tasks.
Economics and Business Administration 30 ETCS credits, from those: 30 ETCS credits compulsory subjects, 0 ETCS credits optional courses

Objective:
to understand rules and basics economy of the company.

Learning outcomes:
student
- has a knowledge in basic laws of micro- and macroeconomic and in
economics legislation, principals of entrepreneurship and marketing principals and feasibility;
- is familiar with planning and organizing methods of company's personnel and resources, personnel work outcome evaluating and their motivating;
- has the basic knowledge of project management in local and in international projects.
Transport Systems and Logistics 30 ETCS credits, from those: 27 ETCS credits compulsory subjects, 3 ETCS credits optional courses

Objective:
to able students to learn the principals of logistics, multimodal transport and regulations of railway transportation and safety

Learning outcomes:
Student knows:
- the principals of logistics and multimodal transportation
safety of railway transportation and legislations concerning railway transportation, also international agreements in railway transportation.
Railway Technology and Traffic Management 30 ETCS credits, from those: 27 ETCS credits compulsory subjects, 3 ETCS credits optional courses

Objective:
To aquire the knowledge of infrastructure facilities, buildings, communication- and command technologies and railway traffic safety management

Learning outcomes:
Student:
- knows the infrastructure facilities, buildings, communication- and command technologies and railway traffic safety management
- guides in their work from Railway Act and regulations
- knows the principles of safe management of railway traffic
- knows the principles of railway traffic management in case of failure in signalling and communications.
Railway Transportation 30 ETCS credits, from those: 27 ETCS credits compulsory subjects, 3 ETCS credits optional courses

Objective:
To able aquire the knowledge of passenger and freight transportation management on the railway

Learning outcomes:
Student:
- knows the principles of rotation of rolling stock and freight hauling on the railway and is able to analyze different options
- is able and knows how to use legaslations and laws
- knows the risks on the railway and is able to compile a risk analyzis
- knows the different telematical applications on railway transportation
- knows the interoperable intelligent transportations systems on the railway.
Practical Training 36 ETCS credits, from those: 36 ETCS credits compulsory subjects, 0 ETCS credits optional courses

Objective:
to apply and challenge knowledge and skills at working environment.

Learning outcomes:
student
- has the practical work experience on different levels
- has the knowledge and skill to do the Gradution thesis
Working Life 14 ETCS credits, from those: 10 ETCS credits compulsory subjects, 4 ETCS credits optional courses

Objective:
to obtain knowledge, skills and competences needed to understand general principle of company and to support cope with working environment.

Learning outcomes:

- possesses main knowledge and skills to manage on job market
- understands labor law
- is able to be responsible and to act according to best practice
Graduation Thesis 15 ETCS credits, from those: 15 ETCS credits compulsory subjects, 0 ETCS credits optional courses
