Curriculum: Mechanical Engineering 2014/2015



Module Description
Humanities 15 ECTS credits, 12 ECTS credits compulsory courses, 3 ECTS credits optional courses.

Objective:
to introduce opinions and attitudes of science and politics in the field of the specialty and enable to acquire a special foreign language.

Learning outcomes:
student
- possesses the communication and teamwork skills and communication technologies;
- is able to understand the information about speialty in foreign language;
- can use the oral and written language in solving specialty-related problems and situations;
- is able to take part in professional conversations.
Mathematics, Sciences and Graphics 33 ECTS credits.

Objective:
to create a basis and provide basic knowledge about engineering subjects.

Learning outcomes:
student
- has acquired basic knowledge in sciences that are the base of engineering training;
- has acquired the base to continue studying on master level.
Speciality Core Subjects 28 ECTS credits.

Objective:
to create a basis and provide basic knowledge about engineering materials and specific engineering calculations.

Learning outcomes:
student
- knows the materials, their characteristics and usage, machine elements and their strength calculations, using principles of hydraulic- and pneumatic drive and electrical equipment;
- knows the kinematic, static and dynamic calculation methods;
- is able to read and create kinematic diagrams, is able to calculate and construct standard elements and drives;
- is able to analyze projects and adopt technically and economically justified engineering decisions.
Production Technology 53 ECTS credits.

Objective:
to provide detailed knowledge of production techniques and technologies.

Learning outcomes:
student
- has an overview of engineering, metal and machine industry production equipment and technologies;
- is familiar with the methods of processing materials, treatment technologies, equipment and fixtures, blades, measuring techniques, basis of design;
- is able to read, complete an document technical processes and to make professional decisions;
- uses modern information and communication technologies;
- knows the quality management principles of the field, is able to use professional language, implement safety technology and engineering ethics.
Product Development 22 ECTS credits, 18 ECTS credits compulsory courses, 4 ECTS credits optional courses.

Objective:
to provide an overview of the principles of product development and innovation.

Learning outcomes:
student
- has an overview of engineering, metal and machine industries design methods;
- knows and is able to use the normative documents;
- is able to make the necessary technical calculations, providing innovative solutions, design 3D models, is able to create drawings of the equipment and assembly, is able to simulate and verify the product in the FEM software;
- is able to calculate, design and select the components for automated products and manufacturing systems;
- knows and performs engineering ethics.
Economics and Business Administration 19 ECTS credits.

Objective:
to enable to get to know the basics and regulationsabout the functioning of economy.

Learning outcomes:
student
- has knowledge about the terminology and basics of economy, the universal principles and concepts of company;
- understands the modern macroeconomic trends and is able to analyze the economic behavior of market participants;
- understands the company´s economic model and the basics of management;
- knows the project management, is able to design a production unit, is able to plan and organize human resources;
- possesses the professional terminology of mechanical engineer and presentation technologies and -techniques.
Practical Training 36 ECTS credits.

Objective:
to enable to implement and control the acquired knowledge and skills in the work environment.

Learning outcomes:
student
- can implement the acquired knowledge and competencies in the production process;
- is able to solve the project tasks, develop technological processes;
- is able to choose the cutting tools and appliances;
- is able to analyze and solve the organizational problems that are connected to product development and production management;
- is able to formulate the company´s current problems and to find different solutions to them.
Working Life 19 ECTS credits, 13 ECTS credits compulsory courses, 6 ECTS credits optional courses.

Objective:
to enable the acquisition of the knowledge and skills that help to understand the operation of the organisation and support coping in it.

student
- has acquired the general knowledge, skills and attitudes to cope with the labour market;
- orientates in the labor laws.
Graduation Thesis 15 ECTS credits.

Objective:
to enable to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in solving a theoretical-practical professional problem.

Learning outcomes:
student
- has a systematic overview about the speciality;
- is able to formulate speciality related problems and to analyze them and find different solution possibilities concerning modern technology possibilities and economic efficiency;
- possesses the communication skills and communication technologies required for work;
- can implement the acquired knowledgw and skills in professional work.
