Facilities Management 2020/2021

Aims
To acquire knowledge and skills necessary for the specialty.

Learning outcomes
The student
- knows the life cycle of facilities and their economics;
- knows the principles of real estate development and real estate investment, and is able to compile a real estate development project together with estimating possible costs;
- knows the categorisation of facilities’ maintenance expenses, is able to analyse the expenses;
- knows the principles of real estate market and is familiar with the market research measures;
- knows and is able to apply the principal methods of real estate evaluation and formulation of the construction costs;
- knows the modern principles of construction of buildings, and construction materials;
- is able to solve main construction related geodetic tasks and use various geodetic measuring tools;
- knows the main technologies of construction processes, requirements for accepting construction works, and is able to evaluate the quality of works;
- is familiar with the processes of construction physics, principles of efficient energy use, and is able to apply these in the design and construction of buildings;
- is familiar with the implementation of heating, cooling, water supply, drainage, ventilation, electricity and automated systems in buildings;
- is able to use specialty related computer programmes;
- uses accurate specialty terminology;
- knows and uses the necessary legislation, regulations and technical standards for the specialty;
- is familiar with the bases of the functions of economics, regulations, principles of construction management, and is able to apply these in the specialty;
- knows the main requirements of safety and is able to evaluate the impact of specialty-related activities on the environment;
- has acquired the necessary knowledge and skills of the specialty in order to cope in the labour market and in an organisation.
