Module 'Logistics and Supply Chain Management'Transport and Logistics 2013/2014
ECTS credits: 43 43 ECTS credits compulsory courses 8 ECTS credits optional courses. Objective: To introduce the basic principles of logistics and supply chain thinking, understanding of the keywords of logistics and how to use them, to give knowledge of forming logistic strategy in an organisation. Learning outcomes: The student - knows the nature and basic principles of logistics; - masters the overall conception of different fields of logistics; - can use the necessary methods for the supply chain administration; - is familiar with the functions of distribution, purchasing, transport, information and warehousing logistics; - can optimise logistic costs; - has the knowledge and skills of supply chain management; - can plan the amount of warehouse supplies; - has knowledge of the applications of warehouse supply management; - can plan and arrange warehouse operations efficiently; - can carry out simple market research and work out marketing strategy for a company; - knows the methods, forms and forwarding channels of electronic data processing as well as types of documents. - is able to describe and analyse logistics and supply chains on strategical, tactical and operational level; - is able to use knowledge on logistics and supply chain area in practice; - is able to analyze company’s logistics system and identify problems in material, information, cash and service flows; - is able to work out different solution alternatives, identify the best solution in situation and implement this for solving problems; - is able to understand in supply chain management interdisciplinary relationships and is able to use them for decision making in management; - is able to use necessary methods for managing supply chains; - has knowledge of different logistics functions; - is able to make cost calculations in different logistics areas, to work out measures for mimimize logistics costs; - is able to identify company’s inventory, to use suitable ordering methods, to identify order entry time and order quantity; - has knowledge in the area of information technology applications for inventory management; - is able to plan and arrange warehouse operations; - knows electronical data processing and data transmission methods, data transmission possibilities and different types of electronical documents; - is able to sell and purchase logistics services; - knows the logistics outsourcing process and is able to manage the process; - knows the principles of service contracting; - is able to orientate in EU customs tariffs systems and is able to choose in specific situation the right customs procedure. | ||
