Module 'Speciality Core Subjects'

Electrical Engineering 2015/2016

60 ECTS credits, 51 ECTS credits compulsory courses, 9 ECTS credits optional courses.

Objective:
to provide basic knowledge of electrical materials, electrical engineering, electronics, automation, digital technology and engineering calculations.

Learning outcomes:
student
- knows the classification, application, construction and working principles of electrical apparatus;
- knows working principles, construction and applications of transformers and electrical machines;
- is familiar with the materials, their properties and applications;
- is familiar with the basics of theoretical mechanics, electronics and automatic control;
- understands electrotechnical relations and is able to implement them;
- understands the applications of digital technology;
- is proficient with elements of the microprocessor technology;
- has basic knowledge in the field of hydraulic and pneumatic automation;
- is familiar with the kinematic, static and dynamic calculation methods;
- is familiar with electrical materials used nowadays, knows their characteristics and applications in electrical installations;
- understands physical processes of atmospheric electricity in the air, types of lightning, lightning protection and surge arresters, is familiar with the high-voltage equipment used in laboratories, is able to make high-voltage tests and measurements, can describe the insulation coordination;
- is able to read, design and make wiring diagrams, make calculations and construct typical elements;
- can analyse the project and make technically and economically reasonable engineer´s decisions.
